Συμβολή στην ανάπτυξη και πιλοτική εφαρμογή σε ιδιωτικά φαρμακεία της βάσης δεδομένων αλληλεπιδράσεων φαρμάκων-τροφής Nutrinet

Summary:
Aim: The aim of the present project was the trial installation and use of the
Nutrinet database, concerning medicine-food interactions, in community
pharmacies, its improvement during the trial run and its evaluation by the
pharmacist-users.
Background: Databases focused on interactions between medicines and food
are already available internationally, whereas in Greece there is a need of
databases’ development that meet the needs of the patient , but also those of a
modern pharmacy.
Material and method: Nutrinet database was distributed to thirteen (13)
community pharmacies within Greece, for a trial period of two (2) months. At the
end of this period, the pharmacists completed a questionnaire with eleven (11)
multiple choice questions and one (1) open-ended question designed to
evaluate the usefulness of the database, its’ advantages and disadvantages,
and pin down possible improvements. The questionnaires were sent via email
and pharmacists were allowed two weeks to complete them.
Results and Discussion: All the pharmacists considered the existence of such a
database in community pharmacies, useful and necessary. Most of the
pharmacists were satisfied by the scientific dietary information at their
disposal,
even though it was revealed that one of the weak points of the program was
that it did not cover the full range of questions about medicines/food
interactions. The majority of the pharmacists agreed that the program should be
used commercially after making certain improvements relating more to the work
environment/ format and less to the content of the database itself.
