Summary:
Goal of this thesis is the synthesis and structural characterization of new
rhodium complexes bearing trivalent phosphorus ligands and the study of their
catalytic behaviour.
The synthesis of the two new complexes [RhCl(P(O-o-tolyl)3)3] and
[RhCl(PPh3)2(P(O-o-tolyl)3)3] has been achieved. The structure of both
complexes was assigned using spectroscopic methods. The crystal structures of
the complexes [RhCl(P(O-o-tolyl)3)3] and [RhCl(PPh3)2P(OMe)3],
[RhCl(PPh3)2P(OEt)3], [RhCl(PPh3)2P(OnBu)3], [RhCl(P(OEt)3)3] have been
resolved.
The catalytic activity of [RhCl(P(O-o-tolyl)3)3] has been investigated towards :
a) hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde, dimethyl fumarate, dimethyl
acetylenedicarboxylate, poly(norbornene) and poly(1,3-cyclohexadiene)
b) hydroformylation of 1-octene, 1,1-diphenylethylene, dimethyl itaconate
c) isomerization of 1-hexene and
d) polymerization of 1,3-cyclohexadiene.
The results are excellent, compared to already known catalytic systems.
