Summary:
In this essay i examine how effective the EC/EU role has been as a peace project in the greek-turkish conflict between 1974 and the present. The uneven impact of europeanization in these years followed the both sides declared commitment to join the club. And if european leverage towards peace, not always successfully, is traced throughout the thesis, it was especially since 1999 that the highest level of rapprochement has been reached with multilevel tangible results and a qualitative mutation of the conflict. Nevertheless, the last year's introversion is ascribed to domestic as well as regional challenges without nevertheless invalidating the reached progress.
