'ARGONAUTS-KOMNINOI': The manifestation of the pontian musical-dance identity
Summary:
The present thesis discusses the issue of how the pontian musical-dance identity is contemprorarily manifested through the Pontian cultural association “Argonauts-Komninoi”, a subject area which is examined through the interviewees’ angle along with my personal experience I have collected from the field. The research commences with the methods according which each individual configures the identity in question in personal level, and focuses on the interviewees’ sentiments as well as their concepts regarding the term “tradition” and how it develops through time. The main subject is examined through three occasions where the members of the association can manifest their identity: the dancing rehearsals of the association, the Christmas celebration and the celebration for the “New Year’s cake”.
