Music, Dance and Gender: An Ethnographic Approach about Strip Clubs in Athens.
Summary:
Strip clubs, in Greece and all around the world in general , are a small society into ours where indoors has its own rules, outdoors taboos and limits. On the contrary, outdoors, the setting is mocked even from those visiting them. Loud music, adult dance, alcohol consumption and communication with body language play the dominant role all night long. It’s a setting where the Dj is the leader, woman is the protagonist but unfortunately with cruel rules of enslavement, disesteem from the others and blur boundaries of the gender equality.
It is about an ethnomusicological- anthropological approach of strip clubs gunning for issues like the relation between dance and music, but also and the gender power issues of today.
