Summary:
A brief and sketchy glance at the characteristics of the discourse on immigration, through the analysis of 8 "Kathimerini" newspaper articles. The period under consideration is marked by a rapid increase in racially motivated violence in Greece. Focusing on the function of presuppositions, as perceived through the work of Norman Fairclough, identification of orders of discourse in the selected texts is attempted, as well as an assertion of these texts' ideological function, when analysed as social practice embedded in the extra-textual racism of the period.
