Τάσεις σύγκλισης ή απόκλισης των ευρωπαϊκών παραλλαγών του κοινωνικού κράτους μετά την κρίση;
Summary:
The paper addresses the issue of the convergence between the different models of European social states (Nordic, Anglo-Saxon, Continental, and Mediterranean).
The main question to be examined is whether the impact of the crisis (2008-2013) will lead to an acceleration of the convergence of different types of welfare state in Europe, or the institutional and historical differences between the four basic models will be maintained, despite the pressure of the crisis. In this scope, a combination of statistical analysis (using the σ-convergence) and empirical analysis of political reforms in the labor markets-in all Member States but mainly in the basic countries of each model (Sweden, UK, Kingdom, Germany, Spain)-is attempted, in order to describe the progress of relevant policies and ascertain whether the transformation of each welfare state is moving to identical directions.
