Summary:
The purpose of the present research is to study whether the feeling of the economic pressure, which spouses experience during the financial crisis, leads to the arousal of stress and negative emotions, to the increase of marital conflicts and finally to the reduction of satisfaction from the relationship and the marriage. For this purpose a survey research was conducted using a structured questionnaire was conducted. The questionnaire which was based on the Family Stress Model, was delivered and answered properly by 189 individuals, 107 women and 82 men. The participants are married and live together before the outburst of the financial crisis in the country. The results showed that the economic pressure is in fact positively associated with stress and negative emotions, which are also positively associated with marital conflicts. The individuals who quarrel are led to the decrease on satisfaction of marriage. Furthermore, the participants who attribute the responsibility of family economic problems to factors irrelevant to their relationship, such as the current economic situation of the country or share the responsibility between them, tend to conflict less.
