Organizational Studies: An Arts and Humanities Perspective.
Summary:
Humanistic management is a brand new administration theory and method which rose up and began to prosper in 1980s and is getting more and more attention in the West. Putting human dignity first is a concept not to so familiar in the capitalistic culture. There is a great need of getting to know these terms in order to ameliorate our lives and businesses. In the first chapters of this paper we are going to analyze the philosophical meaning of humanity in a work place and what humanistic management can offer. In the last chapters of this paper, we will be using Understanding Leadership, An Arts and Humanities Perspective by McManus and Perruci (2015) as a tool in order to understand through works of art such as the movie Modern Times of Charlie Chaplin or the painting Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix different concepts of leadership. We are also going to explore concepts such as the leader/servant through Buddhism and Taoism. Furthermore, the philosophical theories about management gives us a different look in order to solve problems regarding the companies and the organizations.
