STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF STRUCTURE AND VORTICITY ADVECTION IN FLOOD EVENTS
Summary:
Transfer of turbulence is a key potential factor contributing to the generation or enhancement of a superficial low. This dissertation analyzes the distribution of turbulence and its transfer during five specific flood events in Crete, accompanied by a brief scale of superficial recessions. The turbulence and transport was calculated and seeded with OpenGrADS with ERA-Interim data every 6 hours, while concise isobaric and surface maps were used. It was found that in the three cases the swirl transfer was intense, resulting in the intensity of the floods, while in the other two cases the transport was weaker, also causing more moderate floods.
