Summary:
Local Media of the Attica Prefecture, their Development through Social Media and their relationship with Elected Officials

The current thesis deals with the local, printed and online, media in the region of the Attica Prefecture. This research covers the structural and financial attributes of such organizations, their development and that of news dissemination through on-line means. Additionally, the degree of impact from the Kallikratis organizational reform is explored, seven years after the establishment of this law. Finally, the attitude of local media outlets towards elected officials and the degree of independence of such media is studied.

To achieve the above research goals, a survey of prior and related work has been performed. Additionally, the editors/owners of 30 different printed media outlets, with additional online presence, have been interviewed and their testimonies have been formally analyzed.
