The low-frequency theory in the scattering of thermoelastic waves
Summary:
This master thesis focuses on the theory of scattering of thermoelastic waves.
In the first chapter we introduce the reader to the Biot equations that describe
the interaction between the temperature and the displacement fields. In the
second chapter we study the integral representation of the unified scattered
field using Betti's theorem. Furthermore, relying on the far-field expansion
theorem in thermoelastic scattering, we study qualitative and quantitative
features of the scattering cross section. In the third chapter we present lowfrequency
expansions of the temperature and displacement fields and we
formulate the four basic scattering problems.
