Summary:
The phenomenon of abusing women between intimate partners, both as domestic violence and as violence among comrades who are associated with a sexual relationship without having married, is being studied here. The aim of the work is to describe this phenomenon and to highlight its causes, its prevention and its treatment. In the first part, a description of the creation and evolution of this phenomenon, and of the types of violence included in it, will be made. Also, the myths associated with this phenomenon will be answered and the general characteristics of the victim and the perpetrator will be analyzed, and the dimensions of the phenomenon around the world will be presented. In the second part, all the theories concerning the causes of the abuse of women between intimate partners will be developed. Finally, in the third part will be analyzed the different forms of prevention and treatment that are being implemented or proposed for implementation and their effects, as well as the legal protection of the victim in the greek legal system and how the criminal justice system handle the victim.
