Summary:
This essay is a first exploration attempt of the modes that the theatrical act practices when the subject of work is handled. The seven relevant theatrical productions have been selected in order to satisfy the boundaries of the implementation period since 2010 while setting the town of Athens as performance place. These theatrical performances are the Work Hypothesis (Υπόθεση Εργασίας) by the “Pequod” company, Τ.Ι.Ν.Α. by Simon Grangeat, Strong Knees (Ασκήσεις για Γερά Γόνατα) by Andreas Flourakis, Kasimir und Karoline (Καζιμίρ και Καρολίνα) by Ödön von Horváth, El mètode Grönholm (Η μέθοδος Gronholm) by Jordi Galcerán, La grande et fabuleuse histoire du commerce του Joël Pommerat by the French theatre company “Compagnie Louis Brouillard” και Redshift (Μετατόπιση προς το ερυθρό) by Yiannis Mavritsakis.
The work case, as a predominant subject of the human existence, is investigated via the effect of the acts. The theatrical action and the stage event are treated as mental arguments, that pose questions, disputes, analysis, aspects, suggestions, clarifications, continuances, prognosis, interpretations… Nevertheless, they are handled as publications, even more as disclosures, with the ability to extract the deepest rejoinder, as a possibility to engage in a genuine dialogue towards the understanding and the pure perception of the economy of the Ego.
