Summary:
The present research is based on literature data which support that multimedia enhances understanding and memorizing, help students remember more words and encourage them to operate at higher cognitive levels and develop ideas. The purpose therefore of this work was the construction of an educative video by using cartoons for teaching the thematic unit of “Carbon” in the course of Chemistry for students of 3rd Grade in Gymnasio and investigate the effect of this application to the understanding of students assessed by properly designed worksheets and questionnaires. According to the results of the study, students who received teaching with the video demonstrated better understanding of the unit concepts, enhanced recall of information, they considered this approach more pleasant and the lesson more interesting. In conclusion, it has been proven that multimedia using cartoons can be used in teaching of science in schools, always in conjunction with the guidance and the presence of the teacher and reveals to be investigated which kind of knowledge areas and educational applications that will allow to study their use in education and the outcoming results.
