Original Title:
Ο εξευρωπαϊσμός της ελληνικής εξωτερικής πολιτικής: 1996 - 2004»
Summary:
The concept of Europeanization translates into a process of westernisation and modernizing, underlining a two-way process through which policies within a MS are transformed from the European integration process. The thesis focuses on the Europeanization of Greek foreign policy during the prime ministerial period of Kostas Simitis during the period 1996-2004. The adoption of European philosophy opened a new page on Greek-Turkish relations, when Greece accepted the opening of the dialogue on Turkey's accession to the EU. At the same time Greece is shaping a new political profile wanting to face problems such as the Cyprus problem and FYROM. The thesis concludes that the Europeanization of Greek foreign policy has forged a new framework within which Greece was able to better promote its national aspirations.
