Summary:
The study examines the practice of political leaders’ conferences and especially those in which the President of the Republic participates. In those conferences, political leaders discourse about specific issues that are considered to be extremely important and possibly require a much more broad consent among political parties. In fact, it has been proven that it’s also the practice itself that requires consent in order to be effective. Many conferences have taken place in the last eight years contrary to the past as a result of the debt crisis that stroke Greece and other recent political issues and affairs like the refugee crisis. Therefore their examination is quite interesting. The article also investigates the issue of a potential constitution change regarding this practice. This certain issue is associated to the more generic subject that concerns the powers of the President and the proven necessity of putting some restrictions against Prime Minister’s and Government’s powers too. In consequence, in order to analyze the aforementioned subjects, it seemed also necessary to examine the perspective of the President of the Republic as an institution and the notion of consent and it's importance in a democratic country today.
