Summary:
This thesis is primarily theoretical. It attempts to identify the subject of the so-called fantastic literature and, through the examination of modern and older bibliography, to detect the positive and negative aspects of each theoretical approach. The result of the critical review of the theory is the synthesis of a particular scheme, which is capable of approaching the phenomenon over time and avoiding any genre evaluations. Secondly, the extraordinary presence of the imaginary in the Enlightenment period is detected. The brief overview of the field is followed by the examination of the fantastic elements of Αληθής ηστορία, which is an emblematic text of the early Greek literary production.
