Summary:
In the first chapter of the paper, there is critical approach of certain aspects of Hayek's social and economic thought, an analysis of the nature of his epistemology, and how the kindred spirit of Michael Polanyi could help overcome the flaws of Hayek's theories, in that particular area. The second chapter deals with Hayek's economic thought, his defence of the free market, and of prices as a communication system which allows for the optimal distribution of resources, and examines whether the avance of inforamtion technology could lead to a return of central economic planning. the thrid chapter examines Hayek's contribution in the theory of spontaneous order, its limitations, as well as its relation to social change.
