Refugees between humanitarianism and repression: The displaced subjects and the immigration policies in Greece
Summary:
In the context of the present research, the study of refugee subjects is attempted through immigration policies and reformed asylum procedures in Greece, starting chronologically from the summer of 2015. This thesis does not only run out in the analysis of the legal context but also wants to understand the reality of the displaced people in the light that they are shaping, experiencing and interpreting themselves. Members of humanitarian organizations, Asylum Service officers, solidarity people and, more generally, everyday people contribute peripherally. Nevertheless, the subjectivity of the refugees through the policies of compassion and repression of the Greek state, through the paradoxical hospitality of humanitarian reason and the irrational racism of ‘’racialized’’ society and institutional processes, is being investigated symbolically and symbolically and ultimately. Finally, by illuminating the protagonists' own words, we are attempting to reconstitute their memory and history and to thoroughly study the scratches that have left the fingers of power in their lives, claiming a small contribution to the truth of these people.
