Human Security and the externalisation of EU Migration Policy: The paradigm of the Joint Communication with Libya
Summary:
Goal of this thesis is to investigate how the concept of Human Security is used in the migration policy of the European Union. As a case study this thesis analyzes the Joint Communication of the EU with the Libyan Government: «Migration on Central Mediterranean route. Managing flows, saving lives».

Research shows that although human security is adopted in a diplomatic level it is not enforced in practice. Human Rights of migrants and refugees are being violeted, they do not receive freedom from fear or from want, while in some cases they are lacking the basic right of a life in dignity.
