Summary:
In the present diploma thesis, describing the characterizations of the Virgin Mary according to John Mavropoda, according to the Theotocracy of Sophronios Eustratiadis and Nicodemus of the Mount Athos, while examining and studying the possible sources of Mavropoda. In charter 1, basic information about the Theotocracy of S. Efstratiadis is given, while in chapter 2, the life and work of Ioannis Mavropodas are presented. In charter 3, the common denominations of Virgin Mary according to I. Mavropodas are described with the characterization of his possible sources, such as Gregory of Nyssis, Ioannis Chrysostom, Proklus Patriarch of Constantinople, Ioannis Damaskinos, Andreas Crete, Theodoros Stouditis, Theophanis of Graptou, Photios I, George Nicomedia and Joseph of the Hymnographer. Finally, a comparison of the characterizations of Virgin Mary attributed by Mavropous and Nicodemus of Mount Athos is followed, with the characterizations contained in Markianos Theotocracy.
