Habitual criminal act and the concept of a dangerous perpetrator
Summary:
In this publication the author examines the concepts of the habitual criminal acts, the habitual criminal and the dangerous perpetrator. The criminal propensity, the integration and acceptance of a criminal lifestyle and the inability to stop committing crimes are considered elements shared by the above concepts. These specific characteristics of the perpetrator's personality are taken into account throughout the criminal proceedings and entail heavier punishment and more severe treatment. The strong impact of these concepts within the criminal system, coupled with their vague and full of problems nature is a genuine concern both in terms of human rights and the general nature of Criminal Law.
