Summary:
This research attempts to approach the way in which the institution of the Referendum is activated within the representative system. It includes the recording of the referendums held in Greece before the institution was enshrined in the constitutional text, as well as the way in which the institution was arranged in the Constitution. Then, the functioning of the referendum in Greece during the economic crisis is being investigated, while attempting to bring it closer to the institution seen within the European Union.
