Summary:
This Master's thesis is about the ethical permitence of ending one's life, either by committing suicide or by a doctor or other person assisting one to. The research goes through the discussion on the sancrity of human life, the timeless importance of good death, the respect towards one's autonomy as a person, as well as the right to end a human being's own life. The problem is not to be solved according to legislation but rather to be examined through the ethical arguments which justify the right to death.Kant's, Velleman's, Dworkin's and Christian church's different points of view are examined and compared in this debate.
