Linguistic Analysis of the Phenomenon of Stuttering applied on a Single Case Study of a Child: How the child responds to the therapeutic program Lidcombe
Summary:
In the present study we have attempted a bibliographical survey of the ways the phenomenon of stuttering has been approached. In our study we have tried to include the definition of the phenomenon, the description of its main linguistic and behavioral characteristics as well as the main ways of its evaluation and treatment. We proceeded to examine in our qualitative research the application of the linguistic program Lidcombe to a child of pre-school age based on the therapeutic approach of the Fluency Format. The comparison of the disfluency rates at the time before the therapeutic intervention to the disfluency rates during the therapeutic intervention showed a decrease in disfluency in general. Based on this fact the therapeutic intervention with the use of the Lidcombe program was considered successful.
