Translated title:
White Power Music: The presence of White Power music in Greece
Summary:
White Power music constitutes a powerful tool of propaganda and a branch of
the homonymous racist movement, White Power Movement - which has been active
worldwide for several decades. Its action in Greece has been detected in the last
decades and is directly linked to the presence of the continuously upcoming extreme
right and the emergence of neo-Nazi political formations. Although it is not known to
the general public, there is a whole musical genre and musical scene that are blooming
and active, exerting significant political influence, especially on youth.
The aim of this paper is to outline the presence and the historical course of
White Power music scene in Greece from its first appearance until nowadays. Τhe way
of the organization and operation, as well as the evolution of the particular music scene,
is considered in correspondence with the socio-political circumstances. In our day and
age, vested values tend to be fragile. This is why, the configuration of a literal vision and
aspect of a fringe, unfamiliar music subculture that inflames the racist hatred is
considered to be really important in defending human rights, equality and freedom.
