Isolation and structure determination of secondary metabolites from the gastropod Aplysia fasciata
Summary:
In the present thesis was studied the chemical composition of the organic extract of gastropod Aplysia fasciata, samples of which were collected in Skyros at a depth of 2-4 m in August of 2011. Extraction of the specimens with mixtures of CH2Cl2/MeOH, followed by a series of chromatographic separations led to the isolation of 25 metabolites, among which 21 were identified by analysis of their spectroscopic data (NMR and MS). Specifically, the isolated metabolites include two sesquiterpenes, fifteen diterpenes, and four acetogenins with a 12-membered ether ring, known as obtusallenes.
