Summary:
This Master thesis presents and elaborates on Augmented reality - AR, clarifies the difference of the term from the virtual reality and examines the augmented reality as a field of technology, as well as its application in modern times through mobile devices, with emphasis on Geology and in particular Seismology. In more detail, the first chapter is a historical review of how augmented reality has been created. In addition, attention is paid to the technical problems that arise from this. In the second chapter, reference is made to the possible applications of the augmented reality in the fields of Geology (with particular emphasis on the field of Seismology). The third chapter discusses how to design Applications with AR technology, explores the design ways and explores the tools available to develop Augmented Reality (AR), tools to be used to create and implement this technology. The Fourth Chapter outlines the prospects of the augmented reality in the field of Geology. In the Fifth chapter we study the applications of the Augmented Reality in the field of Seismology. Finally, in the sixth and final chapter we try to make a forecast for future applications in the field of Geology and Seismology.
