Summary:
During the Protopalatial and Neopalatial periods the Minoans appear to favor high places for their rituals. They worship on mountain peaks and in caves all around the island depositing an assortment of offerings. It is this phenomenon that is examined in the following essay. The numerous mountainous sites are cataloged and the different theories regarding the significance of their use are discussed.
