Summary:
This Thesis examines the issue of civil protection. The purpose of the paper is to present the risks for which civil protection activation is needed and how these can be addressed. In addition, the concept of civil protection, the way it works and the current institutional framework both within Greece and at the level of the European Union are defined.
Referring to the methodology of the work being used, this is a bibliographic search in international databases, such as Google Scholar and Scopus, as well as various journals dealing with disaster and civil protection issues. Also, relevant writings, as well as material from the websites of the European Union, the European Commission, the Hellenic Society for Local Development and Local Government, etc. were used.
