The healthcare staff in the humanitarian crisis: Knowledge, attitudes and considerations of health professionals in the hospitals of the region of Western Macedonia
Summary:
The aim of this thesis was to research attitudes and perceptions of health professionals towards refugees in hospitals in the region of Western Macedonia, Greece. For this, a field survey was conducted using a questionnaire. Following the recent intensification of the refugee crisis in Greece, it is particularly advisable to study the attitudes of health workers on migrants and refugees as these individuals play a very important role in adapting refugees to the host country. According to the results of the survey, doctors and other health workers generally have positive feelings towards refugees and immigrants. However, in general, doctors have higher rates of empathy with regard to refugees than nurses and other health workers
