Summary:
Every human has the inherent tendency to acquire new experiences, to travel to new places and to get in touch different cultures. This human tendency along with the necessity for entertainment and relaxation led to the phenomenon of tourism. The meaning of tourism by itself is multifaceted and could be defined as follows: The total number of the human transfers and operations far from the area –society in which someone lives and which take place either isolation or collectively so as to meet personal needs. The colossal development of tourism has brought up the need for the creation for more and more touristic companies which will be able to serve the numerous tourists who enter these countries and provide them with complete and high quality services. In this dissertation we will analyze the structure and the functions of a tourist agency through the lense of use and management of informatics systems it has by focusing on the following:
 Profile of the organization
o The position of the information technology’s department in the organization chart
o Organization chart of the company
o The company’s position in the area in which it does business
o The implementation of the electronic dealing in this company

 Procedure of take strategic decisions
o Analysis of competition
o Swot analysis
o Analysis of the operational strategic
o The choice of the operational strategic

 Analysis of informatics systems
o Current use of informatics systems from the organization
o Recognition of informatics systems in the company
o Evaluation of the functions

 Suggested informatics systems for the prosecution trips
o the process of getting claims
o Functional and non-functional system requirements
o Use and activity charts
o Designing an information system
o Information system architecture
o Class charts and sequence diagrams

Our goal is to identify and highlight those IT systems that an enterprise has or must acquire to support both its internal processes and the inter-company processes that govern its relationships with customers, suppliers and partners.
Our decision to deal with this industry is not accidental since tourist or travel agencies are one of the major players in the tourism industry, as it uses the appropriate means to guide and help the traveler to choose the destination of the trip. This choice is achieved on the basis of the measures, the interests, the
financial capability and the specific goals of the individual customer. Therefore, the travel agency acts on behalf of customers and suppliers and organizes the trip before the arrival of the visitor. Travel agencies are basically mediating the end customer as a provider of many and varied services.
Therefore, in a country such as Greece, where incoming tourism is a strong economic sector and whose benefits have been presented only in the last decades, it is necessary to change the attitude of travel agents and to upgrade the structures of the respective companies by introducing new ones or by improving their already existing IT systems.
The travel agent should be an experienced travel practitioner who through technology and information systems will be able to be the most authoritative and most objective source of travel information for the traveler by offering him a wide range of services ranging from simple tips to design a complicated trip.
