Cultural Diplomacy and Interculturality: An Oxymoron?
Summary:
In the 21st century, era when civilizations of the world come closer, intercultural communication looks like self-evident. On the other hand, most countries try to map out the external communication and cultural policy that is called 'cultural diplomacy'.
But how is the concept of cultural diplomacy expressed within a world, where the above-mentioned communication between cultures takes place? The thesis investigated whether the two terms-cultural diplomacy and interculturality- can coexist seeing the condition of advancing globalization and the weakening of the nation-state it brings after the end of the Cold War as well as the consequent intensity of the post-modern spirit.
