Actions of applied theater with the aim of raising children and teachers awareness on human rights. Case study: the theatrical pedagogical program "what if it was you?"

Modern Greece, in the context of international developments, the entry of immigrant population groups, brings to the forefront of the research interest the management of diversity. It is observed that the Greek society has started more widely to discuss the rights of sensitive social
groups, refugees and migrants. On the road to an equal acceptance and non-discrimination, it is necessary to promote human rights through education. The contemporary Greek state owes to play an
important role through education in order to disseminate the ideals of democratic humanism. It is
understood that schools develop training and education tactics based on the imperatives of a multicultural society aw the school is an important human rights broadcaster. The present assignment attempts to coupling education and theatre. Theatre as a performative art can meet new challenges by
offering motivation and assistance in education to explore and approach issues such as human
rights, diversity, xenophobia. Trough the study and presentation of the action of the Tie(theatre in
education) “What if it was you?’’ it is considered how theatre can empower pupils, teachers and
motivate their social awareness.
