Modeling and simulation operational procedures of surgery of public hospital
Summary:
The surgery is one of the main areas of the Hospital, as it serves a huge volume of patients. Its operation is based on conditions relating to the disposal of surgical rooms, staffing and the queue of patients waiting to be served.
Purpose:
The aim of this work is to record, analyze and understand the Business Processes of a Hospital, and in particular the procedures for patient admission to the Surgery. With the help of BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation).
Material-Method:
The data collection was done using the method of personal discussions, with the heads of the relevant departments. Patient Movement Office, Secretariat outpatient, ER (Department of Emergencies), O/G (Obstetrics/ Gynecology), Anesthesiology and of course the OR (Operation Room). Two interviews took place. Also after the first appointment, the procedures were observed and recorded in real conditions (wherever possible). Information was also requested from the hospital about its traffic and its staffing. Then, with the help of the Bizagi Modeler tool, and the BPMN language, the models were created for the procedures of patient insertion into the operating room. In particular, an attempt was made to model and capture the current state of all cases of patient insertion into the operating room. Then the models were validated and experimental simulation was performed.
