Summary:
The unique phenomenon in Greece was the development of social pharmacies as a consequence of the economic crisis from 2009 onwards. Social pharmacies and other social solidarity structures that have been activated by civil society have come and managed to improve the reduced access of vulnerable social groups, to the acquisition of the necessary health-maintaining good, medicine. Many of the challenges they have faced and continue to face up to now on many levels that concern their mode of operation and the necessity of their existence. In this paper, a questionnaire was studied in the framework of the operation of the social pharmacies and the results showed the necessity of their existence, the fact that the requests for taking of drugs from these structures are continuous and increasing and the amendments that should be done concerning operational issues for social pharmacies in a way that there is no public health risk.
