Summary:
Local Authorities are important factors in people’s social life, as they manage a series of processes concerning the geographical area in which a population of people resides. However, Local Authorities are important components of the state, despite their self-government. In particular, Local Authorities help the state to manage the citizens' living in geographic areas, which means that a number of procedures are carried out by them. As self-managed units, however, they must manage and make efficient use of all the sources of revenue they may have, not only to be economically autonomous but also to ultimately be more productive, efficient and secure their viability. It is well known that Local Authorities often hold a significant amount of real estate, which today, in view of the economic crisis and other institutional changes, they must use efficiently.
