Collaboration/cooperation and preparedness for action between the state government and the local governments during the management of crises and catastrophes

Natural disasters have always been one of the greatest threats to human well-being throughout the human history. In modern times, there have been many great steps forward with regard to the prevention of these natural phenomena, yet the danger has not been completely eliminated.
In both Greece and abroad, the greatest burden on prevention and intervention in the event of such a natural phenomenon is in responsibility of the State and Local Authorities, who should cooperate in a harmonious and co-ordinated way so that their assistance could be effective.
The main natural disasters that hit our country in recent years are earthquakes, wildfires and floods, disasters that have resulted in hundreds of people dead. These natural disasters also occur in many other countries with similar results.
The aim of this dissertation is to analyze and examine the way in which the State and the Local Authorities cooperate to prevent, manage and deal with natural disasters.
