Resources Management through the Parable of the Unjust Steward (Lk. 16,1-8)
Summary:
The Parable of the Unjust Steward is considered to be one of the most difficult (as far as its interpretation concerned) Parables of the New Testament. This occurs due to the peculiarity of the Parable’s content, through which it seems that Jesus is welcoming injustice by praising Steward’s acts.
However, is this the real meaning of the Parable?
By examining the whole economic thought of Luke and by studying the historical, social and economical context of his writing, the inner testimony of the Gospel, the writing techniques of Luke and the interpretation of the Fathers and Ecclesiastical writers of the antiquity, we try to approach Parable’s real meaning.
Finally, we compare Luke’s economic idea, sample of which is the Parable of the Unjust Steward, with the economic idea of every New Testament book, and we try to show if the economic thought of the well-known economic systems and well-known economic minds from New Testament’s era to modern time is influenced by New Testament's economic thought.
