Summary:
Obesity in childhood is an important problem of today’s era, it is not only a matter of appearance and beauty but also a severe health problem. Obesity affects children’s and adolescents’ physical, mental and psychological status. In this study 100 children between 7 and 17 years old are included. The included children have no serious health problem. We calculated BMI of each participant and specific questionnaires were shared. According to these questionnaires the participants have estimated their physical status and more specifically their flexibility, their muscle strength, their velocity and cardiovascular stamina. Minimum score was 5 and maximum score was 25, the score was associated with BMI. In conclusion, cardiovascular stamina, flexibility and velocity have a negative association with increased BMI while muscle strength is not totally affected by BMI.
