Major Pregnancy Complications and Stillbirth
Summary:
According to statistics, worldwide around 5.5 million stillbirths are recorded annually, including stilbirths before 20 weeks of gestation (spontaneous abortion) or after 20 weeks of gestation (stilbirth). Although rates of stillbirths have declined over time, many of them could have been prevented. These deaths have lasting psychosocial consequences for parents, families and physicians, as well as widespread impact on the community and society as a whole. The aim of the present thesis is to investigate the major pregnancy complications and their etiology, how they are associated with stillbirth and whether it is possible for a stillbirth to be predicted. The methodological approach undertaken is the literature review, and more specifically a research of the Greek and foreign literature and arthography on the subject under consideration. As a result, a research was conducted on online databases such as Googlescholar, Pubmed, Scopus and Research Gate.
