Summary:
The problem of human infertility is rapidly expanding as a global issue nowadays, with an increasing tendency. Fortunately the establishment and development of Assisted reproductive Technologies (ART) has provided a welcome relief for infertile couples, giving them the opportunity to create a healthy family. The swift growth of ART requires permanent investigation if someone desires to update his/her knowledge, not only for the public but also the involved academic community. This thesis mentions on an analysis of the methods and technologies applied and provides a point of reference for the contemporary state of ART. It has been based on the analysis and exploration of the most recent international bibliography, without the exclusion of certain medical books and reference works which have always been regarded as valuable tools. The thesis chapters focus on female/male infertility and treatment, the following pregnancy and delivery along with their management, possible complications and birth outcomes. After the development of the chapters, the thesis provides a broader perspective in the field of ART and makes suggestions for future research.
