Summary:
The present paper presents the basic structure of the crowdfunding mechanism, with emphasis on the analysis of crowdinvesting, based on the provisions of the Greek regulation, with a reference to other national legislations as well. Reference is also made to the recent Regulation proposal in order to adopt at Union level a set of common rules on crowdfunding. The purpose is to analyse the extent to which the objectives of Capital Market legislation are met through the regulations introduced in the Member States. A more critical analysis of the Greek regulation is introduced, where the presence of crowdfunding is at a low point and finally, whether a European Regulation can be successfully adopted in the EU, alleviating legislative contradictions located in the Member States.
