Pelagic carbonate sedimentation and preservation of paleoceanographic records: Study of micropaleontological geochemical proxies and environmental (paleo)climatic archives
Summary:
The scope of the present work is to investigate the potential role of ambient seawater density to pelagic calcification and contribute to our knowledge on the physical processes that govern the biological precipitation of the calcium carbonate minerals and it mainly deals with variations of the shell mass of planktonic foraminifera. In order to understand the ecological significance of mass variability planktic foraminifer shells are studied in a Holocene data set as an important step towards an analysis of mass changes of planktonic foraminifera in the late Quaternary.
