Summary:
The present work deals with the emotional intelligence of people with autism in relation to typical individuals. Initially, in the work, conceptual clarification of some useful terms such as the concept of emotional intelligence and disorders in the autism spectrum is made. Also, emotional difficulties in the autism spectrum are reported and reference is made to emotional intelligence and autism, as well as to emotional intelligence and Asperger syndrome. In the second part of the paper an extensive bibliographic review is being conducted to study the emotional intelligence of people with autism in relation to the typical development individuals. More specifically, it was decided to investigate a comparison between autistic people and people without autism in terms of their emotional intelligence. The systematic review of the bibliography included searches on online bibliographic databases and on the Internet in general. From the systematic review and on the basis of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were finally 21 articles published in the last decade. After selecting the surveys based on the specific integration criteria and the evaluation of their methodological quality, their categorization, the recording of the individual data and the synthesis and interpretation of the results were followed, aiming to make concrete conclusions for all the researches. The results were divided into emotional intelligence surveys in people with autism and emotional intelligence in people without autism and in researches that have also researched emotional intelligence in people with autism and in people without autism.
