Summary:
This paper deals with the role of the Greek Police in internal security matters as well as the response to terrorist attacks in Greece and the European Union. The first chapter looks at the establishment of the Police as well as events that played a role in its formation in a new form. The structure of the average organization chart and the separation-role of staff are also presented. Finally, there is extensive reference to ELAS services, their structure, mode of operation, purpose and action. In the second chapter, ELAS refers to the policy used by ELAS to introduce police officers, the rules that must be followed both inside and outside the service both individually and to the state. Finally, the basic principles that determine behavior are highlighted and explained. The third chapter discusses issues related to society and its proper functioning in relation to prevention and repression. There is also a new plan for safety and order in public and private spaces. Finally, we look at measures to tackle organized crime and immigration, services that contribute to state security. The fourth chapter deals extensively with the concept and historical background of terrorism. The way in which terrorist organizations operate and organize in Greece is also presented. There is extensive reference to the major terrorist events in the EU. with the cases of Paris and Brussels. Finally, we analyze the laws on terrorism, from the original to the current. The fifth and final chapter explains the concept of terrorism by the EU. in parallel with the EU's actions. in tackling global terrorism. The Lisbon Treaty, the role and responsibilities of the European Parliament, the European Council and the Council of Europe, are then explained. Also mentioned are the responsibilities and the way Europol, Eurojust and Frontex operate. Finally, the functioning of the Schenken system as well as the issues of concern to the European court are presented.
