Strategic Communications Management. The Climate Crisis as a tool for achieving Europeanization.
Summary:
The rise of the global financial crisis, during the 21st century, composed a hos-tile and unfriendly environment towards the nations and relative existing or-ganizations, regarding unity and common progress. It managed to infiltrate and shift the structure of the existing political field. The undoubtable inefficien-cy of the European stakeholders and decision makers in combination with the continuous financial measures, imposed by the elites, led to a negative es-sence over the fulfilment of European integration. The circumstances forced the European Union to seek new means and tools in order to achieve the Eu-ropeanization of all member nations, in contrast to the financial, political and social disturbances.
In between these turbulences, the voices that argued against the concept of the Union are being confronted through the effort of dealing with a major issue that affect us all, the Climate Crisis. The leadership of the European Union, having identified the divergence of the nations, decided to take advantage of a common cause in order to unite its members and to create fertile ground for the development of common environmental strategy and measures. That will highlight the holistic approach and coordination over the confrontation of a major threat. Climate Crisis has been presented as a cornerstone in the pro-cess of Europeanization, most importantly because it is an issue that pro-motes political beliefs related to liberalism and the necessity of democratic values. In parallel, several other political actors and protagonists emerged. However, the employment of an effort related to the environment relief often comes in conflict with the existing individual interests and several financial factors that create second thoughts over the feasibility of the concept.
The main incentive for the study of the correlation and interaction between the Climate Crisis and the effort towards Europeanization lay upon the identifica-tion and analysis of the variables and other exogenous factors that shape and promote the establishment of strategies, environment oriented. The interac-tion of these phenomena promotes radical changes over the existing legisla-tion and laws or the types of measures taken regarding domestic governance. The present dissertation, through a collection of relative literature and aca-demic analyses, attempt an in depth identification and a thorough examination of the progress of the European integration process, within the geographic ter-ritory of the Union, in relation with the policies decided over the Climate Crisis issue. More specifically, the critical role of social behavior and influence is be-ing examined and the utilization of strategic communication techniques or methods. One of main objectives will be to identify the level of relation be-tween exposure to media news and the level of motivation created by instru-mentally used media patterns and schemes. Of course, the process can be affected by the multidimensional nature of the issue. Thus, in order to evalu-ate the effect over the European citizens’ subconscious, emphasis has been given to the Strategic Communication, Elitist Interests and Environmental re-lated Financial Factors Management. Moreover, the use of the concept of se-lective exposure to specific news in order to direct audiences’ attitude upon political choices and vital issues will be also examined.
