Summary:
The subject of this thesis is the prose work of Ioulia Persaki who appeared in Greek literature in the first interwar decade and wrote exclusively short stories. This thesis attempts to highlight aspects of her literary work that prove the creative assimilation of modern elements which define her particular author identity and underline her relationship to modernism. More specifically, the theme of her short stories, the way she handles basic structural elements of fiction, such as plot and characters, as well as the role and function of the setting were studied.
