The work of Theodoret bishop of Cyrus "Eranistes or Polymorphos" and its problems.
Summary:
Theodoret leading work, "Eranistes or Polymorphos" (Beggar or Multiform, or perhaps The Collector), is part of his attempt to deal with heresies and for this reason he wrote it in an interactive format where it takes place between two opponents ∙ the Orthodox, who in this case is Theodoret, and the Eranistes, where he represents many heretics. The work includes three dialogues, the main theme of the first dialogue being " immutability of the Divinity of the Only Begotten Son". The second dialogue deals with the subject of "the unconfusion union of Divine and human nature in the Despot Christ." Finally, the third dialogue analyzes the impassibility of the Deity of the Savior Christ. At the end of the work, Theodoret briefly lists the most important points from all three dialogues in a separate body with forty paragraphs entitled "Evidence through Syllogisms". In this work we have tried to focus on, as much as possible, the use, reliability and interpretation of the sources, so that Theodoret positions emerge more fully and in their purity. The literature was used in those places where there can be creative dialogue.
